Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) is proud to recognize James Byron “Gage” Milsom, a junior at Brantley County High School, for his outstanding progress in the college’s Dual Enrollment Welding program.

Through the program, Gage is gaining valuable hands-on experience and industry-recognized credentials. By the end of his junior year, he will have earned the Basic Shielded Metal Arc Welder Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) and the Gas Metal Arc Welder TCC. In the coming year, he plans to pursue the Gas Tungsten Arc Welder TCC, positioning him to graduate with at least three welding certificates.

In addition to coursework at his high school site, Gage plans to continue welding classes at CPTC’s Waycross campus. He is on track to complete the Welding program either by the time he graduates high school or shortly thereafter during the summer semester, an impressive achievement that reflects both dedication and discipline.

After high school, Gage plans to complete his remaining college coursework and pursue a career as an uderwater welder, traveling the nation and applying the advanced technical skills he is developing now.

Gage credits Dual Enrollment with helping him refine the practical skills necessary for success in the welding industry. “Dual enrollment is helping me by teaching and practicing the skills needed to be successful in the field,” he said. He encourages other students to take advantage of the opportunity: “Take the chance and learn as much as you can to succeed.”

Coastal Pines Technical College applauds Gage for his commitment to excellence and his proactive approach to career preparation. His achievements demonstrate the impact Dual Enrollment can have in equipping students with real-world skills, industry credentials, and a clear pathway to workforce success.
