Aviation Ground School: Private Pilot

Have you always wanted to learn to fly? Does the thought of flying your own airplane excite you? Do you want to have a career in aviation? This course helps prepare students for the FAA Private Pilot Written Exam and comprises aerodynamics, weather, navigation, instruments, preflight planning, regulations, radio communications, and procedures necessary to become a safe private pilot. There are no FAA requirements for ground school training hours. Students are strongly encouraged to attend all of the classes but if any classes are missed, then it is the responsibility of the student to self-study the information that is provided in their reference materials. About one-third of the way through classes, there will be a review with Q&A. About two-thirds of the way through classes, there will be another review with Q&A. The final class concludes with an exam. Those who pass the exam will be presented with their endorsement that is required prior to taking the FAA Private Pilot Written Exam.

Requirements

  • 16+ years old to fly solo
  • 17+ years old to qualify for your private pilot certificate
  • Read, speak, write, and understand English
  • Perform basic math: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
