OSHA 10-Hour General Industry

The 10-hour training program is primarily intended for entry level workers. Training is intended to cover an overview of the hazards a worker may encounter on a job site and emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention.

Mandatory Topics (6 Hours)

  • Introduction to OSHA
  • Walking and Working Surfaces, Including Fall Protection
  • Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection
  • Electrical
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Hazard Communication

Electives (2 Hours - at least two topics and lasting at least 1/2-hour each)

  • Hazardous Materials
  • Materials Handling
  • Machine Guarding
  • Introduction to Industrial Hygiene
  • Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Ergonomics
  • Safety and Health Programs
  • Fall Protection

Optional (2 Hours)

  • Teach other general industry hazards or policies and/or expand on the mandatory or elective topics. The minimum length of any topic is 1/2-hour.
