History

The CPTC Foundation originated as the Okefenokee Technical College Institute Foundation, Inc. in support of Okefenokee Technical Institute. In 2000, when the affiliated institution – Okefenokee Technical Institute – changed its name to Okefenokee Technical College, the Foundation followed suit and became the Okefenokee Technical College Foundation, Inc. In 2014 Okefenokee Technical College and Altamaha Technical College merged to form Coastal Pines Technical College. The Foundation boards affiliated with the former colleges immediately began working to determine the best course of action for students and donors.

The boards agreed that the mission and purpose of the foundations could be carried out more effectively if the two CPTC affiliated foundations functioned as one unified organization. As such, the Okefenokee Technical College Foundation, Inc. changed its name to the Coastal Pines Technical College Foundation, Inc. on November 12, 2015, and the two organizations, the Altamaha Technical College Foundation, Inc. and the CPTC Foundation joined forces in May 2016 to obtain resources and support for CPTC.
