Coastal Pines Police Chief Takes FBI National Command Training Course

Posted on

The Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Campus Police Chief, Ethan Johnson, recently attended the third session of the FBI's National Command Course in Dumfries, Virginia. The National Command Course is the newest program in the FBI’s executive development repertoire and was crafted for agency heads with fewer than 50 sworn officers who have not attended the FBI National Academy.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 86% of law enforcement agencies in the nation have fewer than 50 officers. Knowing there was a need for smaller agency heads to receive the same quality training as larger agency leaders, the FBI developed the National Command Course. During this course, Chief Johnson was able to tour various FBI facilities, network with chiefs and sheriffs from across the country, attended classes and training sessions on services offered by the FBI, and more. After this 5-day training session, Chief Johnson brought back with him a wealth of information to assist with maintaining a well-trained and informed police department at Coastal Pines Technical College.
