Coastal Pines Technical College Student Receives United States Citizenship

Posted on

Throughout our history, the United States has welcomed newcomers from all over the world that have helped shaped and contribute to our legacy as a land of freedom and opportunity. Esmeralda Moreno is a native of Mexico who came to the United States in search of a better life and more educational opportunities for herself and her family. In November 2021, Esmeralda enrolled in Coastal Pines Technical College’s Integrated English Literacy & Civics Education (IELCE) classes.

Esmeralda’s desire was to obtain her U.S. Citizenship and become a part of a country she has grown to respect and love. Ms. Eugenia Evans, the English as a Second Language (ESOL) instructor at Coastal Pines Technical College’s Adult Education Program played a critical role in preparing Esmeralda for her educational journey towards earning her citizenship. On May 4, 2022, Esmeralda became a proud United States Citizen taking the Oath of Allegiance as the final step in the naturalization process by earning the common thread that connects us all as Americans.

We are so proud of Esmeralda’s accomplishments and wish her well on her future endeavors. For more information on Coastal Pines Technical College’s Integrated English Literacy & Civics Education (IELCE) classes, visit www.coastalpines.edu/adult-education.
