Coastal Pines Technical College’s ASN Program Receives ACEN Candidacy Status

Posted on

The Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Associate of Science Nursing (ASN) Program was recently awarded Candidacy Status from the Accreditation Commissions for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The program received this status on January 11, 2021, which will last for two years before expiring in 2023.

The Georgia Board of Nursing originally granted developmental approval for an Associate of Science Nursing (ASN) program at Coastal Pines Technical College in May of 2018. Developmental approval granted the College the permission to begin the development of an ASN program. Because of these efforts, the ASN Program accepted its first cohort of students in January of 2020.

The ACEN’s goal is to promote quality nursing education and to support you and your faculty in the accreditation process. Two comprehensive and independent reviews of your program's Candidacy Presentation have been completed by professional staff.

The decision to grant candidacy status is based on the nursing program (a) demonstrating it is currently compliant with selected ACEN Standards and Criteria and (b) demonstrating the potential to achieve ACEN accreditation based upon the selected ACEN Standards and Criteria reviewed in the Candidacy Presentation.
