Distinguished Service Award Given to Coastal Pines Technical College Partner

The Trustees of the Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Foundation recognized William H. Gross as the recipient of the 2019 Distinguished Service Award at the recent Technical College Foundation Association of Georgia yearly Leadership meeting held recently in Savannah.

Mr. Gross has a passion for developing his community as seen evident by his very kind donation to Coastal Pines Technical College. For many years Mr. Gross has been an advocate for technical education. Realizing the need for a more educated workforce in Camden County, Mr. Gross was one of the first community leaders to promote a partnership between Coastal Pines Technical College and Camden County High School in an effort to build one of the largest dual enrollment programs in South Georgia. In 2017, the Gross family donated 20 acres off Exit #3 near Interstate I-95 for the construction of a Coastal Pines Technical College campus to enable dual enrollment students to continue their technical education after high school graduation.

Construction is underway currently for the new campus with plans to open up for Fall 2020. The programs on the approximately 62,000 square foot campus will include; Adult Education classrooms/labs, Business Technology, Certified Engineer Assistant, Computer Information Systems, Electronics Technology, Engineering Technology, General Education, Health Care Science, Health Care Assistant, Industrial Systems Technology, Maritime Operations Technology, Naval Maintenance Apprentice, Nurse Aide, and Welding and Joining Technology.

William H. Gross is the Owner and President of W. H. Gross Construction Company, a commercial construction and development company in Georgia and Florida. He has a bachelor of Finance degree from the University of North Florida. He is dedicated to the well-being and growth of Kingsland, Camden County, and the entire Coastal Georgia area. His civic service includes: Finance Chairman of Jekyll Island Authority Board, the SGHS Foundation Board of Directors, a member of the CHSI board for the Southeast Georgia Health System, The Camden Partnership Committee, Member of the Coastal Regional Comprehensive Planning Advisory Council, Deacon and active member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsland, Member of the Kairos Prison Ministry Outreach Program, Past President of the Camden County Chamber of Commerce, a member of Leadership Georgia, and benefactor of many local charities, churches, and other non-profit organizations.

Mr. Gross resides in Kingsland, Georgia with his wife Renee with 2 Adult children and a granddaughter. On behalf of the students of Coastal Pines Technical College, the CPTC Foundation Board of Trustees thank Mr. William H. Gross for his continuing support of the College.
