Dr. Jeannie Martin, CPTC Biology instructor, was recently chosen on behalf of the Governor's Teaching Fellows Program as a fellow for the 2023 Summer Symposium! We are so proud to have Dr. Martin as one of our many distinguished faculty. Dr. Martin has several accomplishments like this on her resume. Just last year, Dr. Martin was chosen as one of the class participants for the Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders (EWCL) Class 9, which is an international group of varying backgrounds in the conservation field.
The Governor's Teaching Fellows Program was established by Zell Miller, governor of Georgia, 1991-1999, to provide Georgia's higher education faculty with expanded opportunities for developing important teaching skills. The program is offered through the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia. Participants are selected on the basis of their teaching experience, their interest in continuing instructional and professional development, their ability to make a positive impact on their own campus, and a strong commitment by their home institution for release time and other forms of support for the duration of their participation in the program. To improve the quality of instruction in Georgia's colleges and universities, the Governor's Teaching Fellows Program assumes the complex challenge of moving college faculty members to the leading edge of instructional practice. This effort to enhance instruction in public and private higher education statewide is very much in keeping with the University of Georgia's traditional mission as a land-grant institution committed to diversified outreach and public service.
