The Coastal Pines Technical College Foundation is honored to announce the establishment of the Sharon A. Craw Legacy Fund, a $10,000 endowed fund created in memory of Sharon A. Craw to provide support for students pursuing careers in Nurse Aide and Practical Nursing at Coastal Pines Technical College.
The fund was established by Craw’s family following her experience receiving hospice care during the final weeks of her life. During that time, the family was especially impressed by the compassion, professionalism, and quality of care provided by the nurse aides and practical nurses who cared for Sharon.
Wanting to honor the caregivers who made a meaningful difference in Sharon’s final days, the family chose to create a lasting legacy that will support students preparing to enter the nursing and healthcare professions.
“Sharon’s family wanted to turn their gratitude for the care she received into an investment in future caregivers,” said Stephanie Roberts, Executive Director of College Advancement for Coastal Pines Technical College. “We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and for their decision to honor Sharon’s memory in a way that will positively impact our students and the patients they will eventually serve.”
In addition to establishing the endowed fund, Sharon’s family has also established an immediate scholarship to provide financial assistance to Nurse Aide and Practical Nursing students beginning in the Spring semester.
The Sharon A. Craw Legacy Fund will continue to provide scholarship support as the endowment grows, creating opportunities for students to pursue healthcare careers and strengthening the pipeline of trained healthcare professionals in the region.
