OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
The 30-hour training program is intended to provide workers with some safety responsibility a greater depth and variety of training. Training is intended to cover an overview of the hazards a worker may encounter on a job site and emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention.
Mandatory (12 hours)
- Introduction to OSHA
- Managing Safety and Health
- Walking and Working Surfaces, Including Fall Protection
- Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, Fire Prevention Plans, and Fire Protection
- Electrical
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Hazard Communication
Elective (10 Hours - At least five of the following topics and lasting at least 1/2-hour each)
- Hazardous Materials (Flammable and Combustible Liquids, Spray Finishing, Compressed Gases, Dipping and Coating Operations)
- Permit-Required Confined Spaces
- Lockout / Tagout
- Machine Guarding
- Welding, Cutting, and Brazing
- Introduction to Industrial Hygiene
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Ergonomics
- Fall Protection
- Safety and Health Programs
- Powered Industrial Vehicles
Optional (8 Hours)
- Teach other general industry hazards or policies and/or expand on the mandatory or elective topics. The minimum length of any topic is one-half hour.
