Coastal Pines Directors and Foundation Hold Joint Meeting

Posted on

On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, the Local Board of Directors and the CPTC Foundation Trustees held a joint meeting on June 9th. The meeting was held at the Westin on Jekyll Island, which is located in CPTC’s service delivery area. Also in attendance were the College’s Executive Leadership Team, Mr. Dan Lingenfelter, Vice President of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Foundation Board, the 2021 GOAL (Georgia’s Occupational Award of Leadership) winning student, Evan Edge, and the Rick Perkins Award-winning instructor, Ivie Combs.

Each of these boards serves the College in a leadership and guidance capacity to help advocate for the communities that are served by Coastal Pines, as well as helping drive forward the initiatives of both the College and the CPTC Foundation. The Local Board of Directors is comprised of individuals who represent a variety of business, industry, and economic development backgrounds and bring with them a wealth of experience and wisdom. Board members often communicate community needs to the President and administration; and as a result, CPTC considers its local Board of Directors a vital asset in the quest to fulfill the mission of the college. The CPTC Foundation Trustees are comprised of business and community leaders from Southeast Georgia who volunteer their time, talents, and support to promote technical education and raise funds for students and programs. Trustees guide the Foundation in its mission, vision, and growth. Each of these groups are a vital part of what makes the College able to successfully educate students and meet the needs of each of the 13 communities served by Coastal Pines.

Lingenfelter addressed the group and shared the importance of education and the impact that technical education had in shaping his life and career. He also stressed the importance of supporting students through scholarships. GOAL winner Edge and Rick Perkins Award winner Combs also spoke to the group and shared the impact that technical college has made on their lives. Additionally, CPTC President Lonnie Roberts presented an update on the College and the accomplishments of the past year.

The local Board meets monthly, and the CPTC Foundation Trustees meet quarterly. For more information about Coastal Pines Technical College, visit www.coastalpines.edu.
