Recently, the Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Foundation received several generous donations from Okefenoke REMC. Dewayne Johns of Okefenoke REMC presented Dr. Glenn Deibert, President of CPTC with two checks at a local board meeting. One of the checks for $2,000 will be directed toward the General Scholarship program, and a second check for $2,000 will be directed to the Electrical Lineworker Program. In addition, Okefenokee also donated $2,500 worth of tools to be given directly to the lineworker program for instructional purposes.
The Electrical Lineworker certificate program provides students with the necessary knowledge and skill to gain employment as an entry-level lineworkers with electrical utility companies, both public and private. Topics include lineworker organization principles, lineworker workplace skills, lineworker automation skills, and lineworker occupational skills.
