New Students

Applying to college can be intimidating so we are here to guide you through the process, step-by-step. You would be considered a beginning or new students if you have never enrolled in any college or university. If you are a first-time college student, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Complete the application for admission and pay the $25 application fee.
  2. Submit an official copy of your high school or high school equivalency transcript.
    • Applicants who were homeschooled and attended an accredited program must submit:
      • Annual progress reports or final transcript for the equivalent of the student’s junior and senior years
      • The final progress report or transcript must include the graduation date.
  3. Submit verification of lawful presence and proof of Georgia residency to qualify for in-state tuition. View the list of acceptable documents to learn more.
Lawful Presence statement:
Any student who cannot be verified as lawfully present in the United States is not eligible to be considered for in-state tuition, regardless of how long he or she has lived in Georgia. In addition to being lawfully present in the United States, students must meet the in-state tuition requirements as outlined in TCSG Board Policy and Procedure V.B.3 to warrant an in-state classification. Students that are initially classified as out-of-state and successfully petition to have their residency changed to in-state also have to meet the verification requirement.

Helpful Hints
A transcript is official if it is delivered to Coastal Pines (by mail or in person) in the same sealed envelope it was placed in by the issuing institution. Transcripts cannot be accepted directly from students. Transcripts can also be sent using an approved, secure electronic transcript sending service. Approved electronic transcript sending services can send official secure transcripts to admissions@coastalpines.edu.

Students who attended high school or college outside the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated and translated by an approved evaluation agency. Below are links to approved agencies’ websites: www.jsilny.com www.wes.org/ www.lisano-intl.com/
