Mission Statement
The mission of the Coastal PinesTechnical College Radiologic Technology Program is to provide radiologic training to meet the needs of the radiologic technology providers and the citizens of the Coastal PinesTechnical College service area. This mission will be accomplished by:
- Providing classroom and clinical learning opportunities that develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement for successful employment as an entry-level technologist and prepare students to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists’ national certification examination.
- Working with radiologic technology providers to ensure that the program content is current and to graduate adequate numbers of students to meet the needs of the radiology providers in the Coastal PinesTechnical College area.
- Providing the foundation for continued education in the areas of advanced imaging such as sonography, computed tomography, etc. through clinical experiences and career-related instruction.

Program Goals and Student Learning Outcomes:
- Goal 1: Students will demonstrate competency in performing imaging procedures.
- SLO 1.1: Students will utilize appropriate techniques.
- SLO 1.2: Students will demonstrate adequate positioning skills.
- SLO 1.3: Students will provide proper radiation protection methods.
- Goal 2: Students will communicate effectively.
- SLO 2.1 Students will demonstrate written communication skills.
- SLO 2.2 Students will demonstrate effective oral communication skills by presenting research on radiographic pathology.
- Goal 3: Students will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- SLO 3.1 Students will be able to achieve diagnostic radiographs on non-routine patients.
- SLO 3.2 Students will critique images to determine diagnostic quality.
- Goal 4: Students will model professionalism.
- SLO 4.1: Students will perform article critique evaluation on an imaging modality of interest to foster student pursuit of secondary pathways.
- SLO 4.2: Students will recognize the role of continuing education in maintaining professional standards.
Employment Opportunities:
Graduates of the Radiologic Technology program are prepared for responsible positions in hospitals, private clinics, doctors’ offices, and other institutions requiring qualified professional personnel.
Accreditation:
The Program has an 8-year accreditation accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The minimum standards, by which a Radiography Program is evaluated by JRCERT, are published in the Standards for an Accredited Educational Program in Radiologic Science. Copies of The Standards are located on file in the Programs Director’s office and accessible via the JRCERT Web site.
